Overview
OpenID eliminates the need for multiple usernames and accounts for different websites.
Instead of password accounts, you use one easy-to-remember URL to access websites and prove your identity- this is your OpenID.
Using strong authentication with a hardware USB key, smart card, or biometric reader, you can strengthen the security and authenticity of your OpenID.
An OpenID URL is essentially the same as those used for web addresses, but it is personalized. It usually points to a service, known as an OpenID provider, that informs the rest of the web that an OpenID is valid and provides information about the owner of the OpenID.
As an owner of an OpenID, you choose the information about yourself that is shared with other websites. In fact, you control every aspect of where and how your OpenID is used.
Strong Authentication & OpenID
Using strong authentication with a hardware USB key, smart card, or biometric reader, you can strengthen the security and authenticity of your OpenID.
As an OpenID provider, TrustBearer OpenID provides a simple way to use strong authentication with your OpenID.
Once you have a supported authentication device, such as a USB key, smart card and reader, or biometric device, there are only two steps to get started.
- You set-up an account and allow the installation of web browser add-on, which handles the use of your device.
- You then connect your device and link it to your OpenID.
